Booking & Availability

As soon as you have a date. Popular dates, such as weekends between April and October, typically book 6–12 months ahead. It's the same with Christmas. As soon as you have booked your price is locked in and there are no hidden extras.
We can sometimes cover last-minute bookings, even on the day itself, providing we are free and there is sufficient time available for us to get to you.
In order to secure a booking, we must take a deposit, which is usually £100. The balance is typically paid two weeks before the event. In the event of last-minute bookings, payment on the night is fine, but we must insist on the payment being provided on arrival.
We are based in south Lincolnshire and regularly travel across the county and to the neighbouring counties of Cambridgeshire, Leicestershire, Norfolk and Northamptonshire. We have a maximum distance of 200 miles, but it's flexible. For your information, we have regularly provided discos as far away as York, Manchester, London and the Home Counties, but also as far as Brighton and Bournemouth in the south.
There are no travel costs for events up to a 30 mile radius. Beyond this, there will be a charge for additional miles but we always keep this to a minimum. We have a price calculator on our main page where you can input the distance and other relevant information, so you can see how much it will cost. Or just get in touch by phone or email and we will happily give you a price.

On the Night

It takes us about 90 minutes to set up the show and an hour to dismantle and pack away into the trailer. Where possible, it's always good to have an extra hour or two to cover any eventuality. We won't charge you for this. We are always prepared and like to arrive in good time, taking possible traffic hold-ups, etc. into account, but we always allow more than sufficient time, especially if we are travelling over any large distances, sometimes staying over where applicable.
Yes, early setup is always available and doesn't usually incur an additional fee, although this will depend upon how much earlier you require. Please ask when booking.
Absolutely. We are always happy to take requests and we actively encourage them. We also have a dedicated text request number on the night, which we initiated at the end of the covid pandemic. This proved to be so popular that we continued its availability. Note that not all customers want us to take requests and this is usually where strict playlists are required. See the next FAQ for more details.
Playlists are a very important part of many events, especially weddings and birthday parties. Your playlist will always be prioritised over other songs. We endevour to play all playlisted songs where possible, but some playlists contain more than enough music for several discos, let alone just one, so it's good to know which of these to prioritise.
We always carry our own professional equipment, with backups. We would rather not trust in any equipment we are unfamiliar with.
We carry backup sound and lighting equipment on-site, so the party doesn't stop. If it's a software issue, which can happen occasionally, a quick restart of a laptop or a light controller is all that is needed.

Karaoke Specific

Thousands! Spanning the 1950s to the present day. We have many specialist genres too. However, it must be stated that not all new releases are readily available in karaoke format. Certain songs, artists and even some genres never produce karaoke versions of their material. Some vintage material is also hard to locate in karaoke format, but check with us first if you wish to ask about something specific. It may be possible to source it in time for your event. Check with us first if you want to be sure.
Yes, along with request slips and pens. We place these around the room before the karaoke starts. We manage the requests so that everyone who wishes to sing has an equal chance.
Different entertainers deal with this differently. Our typical format is to play carefully chosen music while we are awaiting the next singer. It's not good to have complete silence. Songs will be cut short as each singer arrives.
We carry four high quality, metal cased wireless radio microphones. They have a larger than average coverage too and with directional characteristics to minimise feedback.
We always ask what karaoke-to-music ratio you prefer. A customer might want a 50/50 balance, or have karoake for the whole evening, leaving the last hour for regular dancing. It's up to you. But bear in mind that karaoke singers might be in short supply at some events and so there may be more regular music than karaoke. It's often best to play it by ear, but we welcome your specific instructions on this. Also bear in mind that karaoke can be slow to start at some events where nobody wishes to be the first on the microphone, but we always encourage people to sing, sometimes delivering a little act of our own to break the ice. We will always explain to your guests how to request a song and how it all works.

Music Style & Presentation

Yes we can. Where requested, we provide a specific genre for part of an evening, or for the whole event. 80s and 90s are the most popular, with 70s and Indie being firm favourites. We have provided many dedicated genres of music over the years, including northern soul and Motown, Latin and Caribbean, country and line dancing, cheesy party favourites, rave, drum & bass, new wave, hi-nrg, rock 'n' roll and even the 40s.
Yes, we have provided the entertainment for LGBTQ+ weddings.
As you please. We're always upbeat and friendly on the mic and we adapt to the occasion. Some events need minimal speech and we respect that. We are not loud or overly chatty on the mic and probably say something every two to four songs. We tend to chat more at the beginning of an event in order to inform guests on how everything works. People do not usually want DJs who chat incessantly all night.
In a typical show, our floor or stage coverage is around four to five metres in width. This include several overhead lighting effects, two mirror balls, uplights and either a star cloth or a 50 inch screen for displaying personalised information. There are usually two speaker stacks at either side, providing a clear, rich sound, capable of filling a large hall and up to 500 people. We also bring our own booth, table and seating. It's all flexible so we can usually fit into any space with prior notice.
